Mary Iellamo, M.Ed. is a doctoral psychology intern at the Brattleboro Retreat and a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Springfield College. She received her BA in Psychology and English at the College of Our Lady of the Elms and her M.Ed. in Psychology (Counseling) at Springfield College.
Mary has received training and supervision across levels of care at settings including Baystate Medical Center, Providence Behavioral Health Hospital, Rockville General Hospital, and Walden Behavioral Care. She enjoys collaborating as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide more holistic care and conceptualization to the clients with whom she works.
As a clinician, Mary approaches her work from an integrative style of relationally- and culturally-informed third wave approaches with an additional emphasis on biological psychology. Her clinical interests include health psychology and behavioral medicine, particularly focusing on sleep disorders and eating disorders/eating behavior. She is passionate about breaking the mold of traditional psychotherapy and working with clients to increase wellness across domains of their lives. As a researcher, Mary has been investigating the relationship between embodiment and online support for eating disorders, the reporting of sexual violence, and the role of sleep behavior in the treatment of acute psychiatric presentations. Her diverse research interests are driven by observations from her unique professional experiences in the hopes of bridging the research-practice gap.
